Foscadh Housing wins national housing award for Drogheda community integration initiatives
Foscadh Housing Association was last night announced winner of the Community Integration in Housing Award by the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) at the biennial ICSH/Allianz Community Housing Awards in Wexford.
The award recognises Foscadh’s achievements in community integration at the Lia Bhrega estate in Drogheda which is home to families, single people, the elderly and people with special needs from 18 different nationalities.
Foscadh Chief Executive Mr Ken O Héiligh said he was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the Foscadh team and the Lia Bhrega community.
“Quality housing, open dialogue and proactive maintenance programs have always been key priorities for Foscadh alongside programs that empower residents to make a difference to the health and sustainability of their community,” Mr O Héiligh said.
“At Lia Bhrega, Foscadh has helped coordinate a range of initiatives such as the Junior Litter Pickers program which teaches kids about the importance of looking after their environment, Neighbour Days where residents share different aspects of their culture, and the Loving Life kid’s choir which provides a safe and inclusive environment for kids to express their voice freely, make friends and build their self-esteem.
“As a scalable model for community integration, Lia Bhrega provides an excellent example of what we can achieve when we work together for a common goal.”
